JOB SUMMARY
Mechanical Design Tooling / Fixture Design for BIW (GM) No Product Designer / Engineers Remote working for the balance of 2021. Unknown beyond 12/31/2021 Required Skills 1) Tooling / Fixture Designer with NX cad skills for Body Assembly, knowledge of GM BOE and MD1 North American standards and specifications. Strong understanding of BA GEO and Fixture Tools for Framing, Bodyside Systems and Sub Assembly 2) Strong knowledge of auto assembly strategies (i.e. part flow within an assembly plant / body Shop), vendor coordination (importing Weld Guns, End of Arm Tooling, etc.), work in model space and paper space, understand how a GEO and Respot Systems function. 3) Develop detailed design drawings and specifications for mechanical equipment, dies/tools, and controls, using computer-assisted drafting (CAD) equipment. 4) Review and analyze specifications, sketches, drawings, ideas, and related data to assess factors affecting component designs and the procedures and instructions to be followed. 5) Modify and revise designs to correct operating deficiencies or to reduce production problems. Drive and understand customer specifications both corporate and plant and apply company standards for use in all aspects of mechanical designs. 6) Modify existing 3D and 2D models for “Kits” and create new designs for simple and intermediate and complex systems. Develop Kit Sheet showing before and after. 7) Understanding of customer specifications (corporate and plant), standards, and local and/or national 8) Strong Detail stack up and methodology and how it relates to machining and tool stack up. 9) Coordinate and review with Technical Leaders, Project Engineers, Sr. Mechanical Engineers, and colleagues to maintain consistency within a given project, and or to resolve design or other problems. 10) Computers - Knowledge of Windows, and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) and a high degree of competence with CAD platforms and associated application software. Preferred Skills; Familiar with NAAMS Standards, GMD1, GTC1 Standards, Attributes (File & Model), Check-Mate. Understanding of Mechanical Design Sequences / Controls documents to Controls Design. Detail stack up and methodology and how it relates to machining and tool stack up. Ability to describe operation and maintenance of mechanical systems. Extensive previous work-related skill, knowledge, or experience is required for this position. Active participation on 5 or more projects. Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models. Analyzing Data or Information -- Identifying the underlying principles, reasons, or facts of information by breaking down information or data into separate parts. Troubleshooting - Determining causes of mechanical errors and deciding what to do about it. Cad Software NX AutoCAD / Catia a plus • 5+ years Mechanical Design and Engineering experience in BIW Tooling / Fixtures or Associates Degree in Mechanical Technology or equivalent experience • Ability to work independently and within teams • Ability to travel domestically (0-20%) and internationally as project needs, may be require for technical support
