JOB SUMMARY
They are all precision manual OD, ID & surface grind machines. No CNC or Robotics. Summary: Lead and schedule a small team of grind operators, use a computer to print drawings, work center reports. Complete timekeeping activities, communicate via email and attend weekly production meetings. Maintain a clean/safe working environment. Create documents and coordinate outside heat treating, Black Oxide and Anodizing of parts. Hands on skill in all areas of finish precision grinding of various complexity of parts using O.D. wet grinder, O.D. grinder with normal chuck and magnetic chuck, wet and various types of surface/Blanchard grinding. Use various precision checking tools to validate parts are made to print specifications. Duties and Responsibilities: • Lead and schedule a small team of grind operators. • Maintain a clean/safe working environment • Positions and secures workpiece on table with, fixtures, clamps, shims, or other holding devices. • Perform grinding operations when needed, follow standard operating procedures • Verifies conformance of grinding to specifications, using precision measuring instruments, such as calipers, micrometers, finish gages, gage blocks and telescoping gauges. • Perform hardness testing when required • Perform CILR tasks to maintain the area • Report daily production achieved • Report Non Conformances • Participate in continuous improvement processes and activities Knowledge & Skills: • Ability to work independently with written and verbal direction • Good problem solving skills • Proficient math skills, basic trigonometry • Blueprint reading skills using both imperial and metric system • Calculate OEE metrics daily • SAP ERP experience preferred (we can train) Behavioral Competencies: • EHS (Environmental Health and Safety) rules for work on the factory floor • Unsafe Act • Unsafe Condition • Proper PPE (Personal Protection Equipment) usage • Emergency plan readiness Key Performance Indicators & Measures: • Non Conformity • Standard of QC • Verification to the prints • OEE • Number of improvement suggestions • Kaizen participation (KAI=change for good=ZEN) Qualifications (Education, Training, Certification, Licenses, Experience): Overall Experience — • 8+ years grinding experience • 2+ years leadership experience Education — • H.S. Diploma or equivalent • Vocational training preferred
